Charity Partner

A portion of the proceeds from New York Taste benefit City Harvest. Now serving New York City for more than 30 years, City Harvest (www.cityharvest.org) is the world's first food rescue organization, dedicated to feeding the city’s hungry men, women, and children. This year, City Harvest will collect 46 million pounds of excess food from all segments of the food industry, including restaurants, grocers, corporate cafeterias, manufacturers, and farms. This food is then delivered free of charge to some 400 community food programs throughout New York City by a fleet of trucks and bikes. City Harvest helps feed the more than one million New Yorkers that face hunger each year.

Venue & Information

From filet mignon to street meat, New York has it all and New Yorkers know their way around food. Since 1998, the best of New York’s restaurant scene, experts in both classic comforts and gastronomic innovations, have gathered together for one incredible feast, New York Taste.

On Monday, November 11, 2013 we were delighted to once again serve the city’s most delectable and diverse menu of cocktails and dishes to more than 1,000 discriminating food lovers. New York culinary editor Gillian Duffy presided over the evening and a portion of the proceeds were donated to City Harvest.

Tell me more about The Waterfront building. Is it historic?

Built in 1891, the Terminal Stores building (aka The Waterfront) was the most ambitious riverfront structure of its time—made to look like a medieval fortress. Twin rail lines originally ran through the central corridor of the building, from docks on the Hudson to a freight line running up 11th Avenue. When built, this complex of seven-story warehouses was the only one in New York with direct river, road, and rail access—acting as a major transfer point for merchants receiving or shipping goods. On November 11, 2013, The Waterfront hosted the 15th annual New York Taste.
